Quick Notes:

Skill Ratings:
  • 60 Skill rating was in the top 6% of OW players
  • Replacing the 1-100 scale with a 1-5000 scale
  • Adding tiers to skill rating (In total there are 7 of them but gave 3 for example: Bronze, Silver, Gold)
  • Each tier will roughly consist of 500 ratings (example Jeff gave was Gold being 2000-2499)
  • Once you reach certain tiers you cannot drop below them
    • Except for the two highest tiers (Master and Grand Master)
    • Your skill rating can still drop below the tier's requirements BUT you will not be downgraded from the tier itself
  • In order to be Top 500 now you must at least have 50 matches played
Skill Rating Decay:
  • Only will affect those at high levels
  • If you are Diamond, Master or Grand Master Tier you will be subject to SR Decay
  • If you don't play Competitive for 7 days, you will lose 50 SR every 24 hours (You will not drop below Diamond tier however)
Playing With Friends in Competitive:
  • They are getting more aggressive with how close you have to be in terms of ranks to play with one another.
  • With the new 1-5000 SR system you and your friends must be within 500 ranks of eachother to play
    • They might loosen up these requirements if they become to restrictive
Competitive Rewards:
  • The end of season rewards will now be given out based on what tier you reach
  • For reasons coming up in the future, ALL competitive points (includes already earned points and future points) will be multiplied by 10
    • Golden weapons will be multiplied by 10 as well
      • THIS IS MY SPECULATION: More rewards to buy with competitive points might be coming in the future
  • If a tie occurs: both teams will be given some competitive points as a time investment
Competitive Mode Balance Changes:
  • Coin toss is going away and so is all forms of Sudden Death
  • Ties will be replacing Sudden Death
    • Jeff stated that ties will be very rare on Hybrid and Payload Maps while on Assault Maps they might be a bit more frequent
  • No changes to King of the Hill maps (e.g. Ilios)
  • Assault Maps (e.g. Temple of Anubis) will still have time bank
    • Every capture of the first point (A) during overtime (EXCEPT THE FIRST TWO ROUNDS) will now give 30 seconds rather than end the round due to not having any time left
    • The extra 2 minutes that are given as a Last Chance (aka, when the attacking team captures the point with less than 2 minutes left) has been reduced to 1 minute bonus time.
      • If bonus time is given to the attackers, the defenders will also be given the exact amount of bonus time
      • Example: If attackers cap with 40 seconds left, they will be given 20 seconds to make a minute BUT the defenders will also be given an extra 20 seconds on their time
  • The time bank system will also be added to Hybrid Maps (e.g. Numbani) and Payload maps (e.g. Route 66)

All changes will happen in the PTR first before the update for the Main branch occurs. No word when the PTR will be available.

I like the change to ranking.

Is there a reason Mercy is the picture of the video? Are they doing stuff to her?

The developer update characters are picked at random if they don't relate to them. Hanzo was used on the beginning of Season 1 video and no change occurred.
