Honey Badgers have very tough skin. The skin is very thick and rubbery, which is almost impervious to arrow and spears. Even a blow from machete can't scratch the skin. The skin protects them from bites.

I seriously hope that the spider wasn't a brown recluse because it looked veeeeeery similar.

We don't have Brown Recluse here unless they came in via shipment of some sort. That is a common Yellow Sac spider which has changed to brown because of the tea. You have probably eaten a few of those while you were sleeping. If you have these in your house, don't kill them as they eat more annoying bugs.

Oh yea, they do bit and are venomous... kinda. You will just itch for bit and the spot will swell, nowhere near fatal though.
