Does anybody here keep up with UFC? It's one of the few sports I can actually sit down and watch for any length of time, and serialp0rt really loves it, so we tend to get PPVs every once in a while.

Anybody watch UFC112 yesterday? Man, everybody in my house was upset that BJ Penn lost the fight, but I honestly thought the judges made the right call. Maybe not that guy who scored it 50-45, but I definitely thought Edgar won more rounds than Penn.

Plus, what was up with that fight between Anderson Silva and Demian Maia. Silva was flat out being a douche bag. Running around the ring like that so Maia simply couldn't fight him is a pretty ridiculous thing to do. Man up and engage him in a fight! You're an ultimate fighter, not an ultimate avoider. I don't know what it was, but the feeling I got was that Silva was scared to engage Maia, so instead he hit him a few times when he had the opportunity and then tried to avoid ALL other contact so that Maia couldn't score any points. (Obviously he wasn't afraid - he's a great fighter - but man he sure acted like a pussy.) He was acting like he could easily stop the fight at any moment with a well placed punch, and yet he let it go a full five rounds by running away from Maia whenever he tried to advance. I understand that Silva may have been pissed off at who Dana White pitted against him, but the way he handled it just made him look all around pathetic.

And Dana White thought it was pretty pathetic too.

anubis is right, I LOOOOOOOOOVE UFC. I love any mixed martial arts but UFC is my favorite because regardless of what anyone says, it has the best fighters in the world.

With the exception to the two takedowns I don't feel that edgar won any other rounds, and that would still give penn 3 to 2. He did have the more damaged face, but it was all just from a couple punches because the rest of it almost never landed. I did think Penn stopped throwing leg kicks WAY WAY to early in the fight and that was probably the main reason he lost. I don't know if for the first time Penn got tired, or if edgar was actually that much faster than penn, but penn just looked off his game. Maybe if I watch the fight again I will see it different because I am such a big Penn fan. I don't think it was such a robbery like I did at the moment, though I am still BLOWN away. The judge that scored it 50 45 against Penn should be shot on the spot. He obviously didn't watch the fight.

Anderson silva lost a lot of fans last night. He also pissed off nearly the entire rest of the mixed martial arts nation. He acted like a fool and the crowd booed him loudly for it. Dana white also jumped on his corner for his actions and you hear how he apologized at the end of the fight. He knows better than that, Dana white doesn't care how good you are if you are gonna act like a show boating little bitch. I think he got hurt by some of those punches that Maia threw hurt Silva and he was afraid of getting a flash knockout and never getting to fight St. Pierre. Oh well, if he ever does that again I won't watch him.

He also left the fight during the fourth round, and gave the belt to somebody else (I can't remember the name, but it started with an S, like maybe Saortes or something), because he was ashamed to hand the belt to Silva after that performance.

I agree with that. Once he knew he had won three rounds, he was NOT going to put himself in danger the other two rounds for some sort of unexpected punch or take down. So he just ran away.

Okay tonight you have Brock Lesnar vs Shane Carwin. Now lately I have been pulling for Lesnar as long as he wasn't fighting one of my favorite fighters like Frank Mir, but tonight I am pulling for Carwin to knock him out. I hope Carwin has the strength to handle Lesnar. I don't know how much strength Lesnar has recovered since his illness and surgery. The rest of the fight looks amazing. I will be posting my opinions and what not after the fights. Predictions anyone? I will try to find the torrent for this fight after its over if anyone is interested in watching it.

I hope Lesnar falls as hard as Fedor Emelianenko fell the other day in Strikeforce. I don't know why... I have nothing against Lesnar. I just like it when people who people say are soooo great when they don't really have any justification finally fall as you would expect them to. Lesnar is good - he wouldn't be in the UFC if he wasn't. I just hope he gets knocked out so people don't keep lifting him up to god status as they tend to do.

Well it looks like they will just lift him higher now that he won by submission, although if he had knocked him out then people wouldn't be able to say "he only submitted him because he was tired". It doesn't matter how he won, he won. You should know better than to punch yourself out when you weigh 265 lbs. I was super impressed he took all those huge shots from Carwin and didn't get knocked out.

Also, there we a ton of good submissions, chris lytle getting that crazy arm bar...and chris leben with that unbelievable triangle choke with 30 seconds left in the fight. That just came out of no where. And of course the main event with Lesnar choking out Carwin with an Arm Triangle in the second round.

Yeah, Lesnar did not disappoint. It was a good fight. I thought he was done with when Carwin opened up on him, but some how Lesnar just held on. I knew when he held on through Carwin's punches that Lesnar would win, though. Carwin should have played it smarter.

Yeah, I feel the same way sometimes. And usually the rest of the card is good enough to redeem it.

well the same thing happened in the 90's and early 2000's with boxing. you would have the huge named main events but it would end in a couple of rounds or after just one punch (mike tyson) but I mean that's what you pay to see. You pay to see who is the better fighter, not for a fight that lasts the entire length of the fight. maybe I am saying this because I am a purist when it comes to fighting sports like this. I just love to watch two guys show exemplary skill in some form of the sport. Like the jack shields fight where he basically just grappled the guy the entire fight...I mean watching someone get submission after submission thrown on them and just DOESN'T CARE, how can you not be impressed. "Oh you are gonna try to choke me...well you go right ahead I'll just improve my position while you waste your energy. I know you can't submit me because I am vastly superior so I won't even defend it" HOW YOU CAN YOU NOT LOVE THAT!!! I fucking love UFC...its like a drug for me.

So... who caught Edgar vs Maynard?

Most absurd fight ever. It's amazing it even made it out of the first round, let alone with such a huge turnaround seen in the second.

it really was absurd.
SpoilerShow
I mean Edgar got his brains beat in for 5 minutes and somehow survived. Not only did he survive but he was able to come back and be perfectly fine for the next 4 rounds. JUST BLOWN AWAY. He super impressed me because most people would have lost all their cardio after a beat down like that. As for it being a draw....I just don't know if I agree.
