Major sites "blacked out" their websites yesterday in opposition to SOPA and PIPA, two bills that, if interpreted correctly, basically make using the internet a crime. In response to blackouts, tons of people called in to their representatives in the House and the Senate, and even some co-sponsors of the bill changed their tunes and decided to actually oppose the bill. It's now expected that there won't be enough supporting votes in either house to actually escalate the bill to the executive branch. Again, Assman, sorry I couldn't get our image up, but at least in general the blackout may have done some good.
Also, if that was completely incoherent, I appologize. I'm still really sick and have pretty much gotten around 15 hours of sleep in the past week because of it, so I have absolutely no idea what kind of nonsense is spewing out of my fingers. God bless my students today...
