Post subject:  What Happens When you Die?

I want to know what everybody thinks. THIS IS NOT A THREAD TO TEAR PEOPLE'S BELIEFS UP. This is a thread to try to get others to think.

My opinion:

Throughout our lives our brain remembers every mistake we make and builds instincts from that. The first time we fall forward, we land on our face. It hurts. Our brain quickly learns that if we put our hands out in front of us, it doesn't hurt. We stop falling on our face. Over a lifetime our brain is continuously building new instincts so that we do not hurt ourselves. As we are falling forward, our brain scans our memories and remembers when this happened before and how to stop it; so we instinctively put our hands out. This happens every time we are about to hurt ourselves. When we are right about to die, our brain is scrambling to come up with a way to survive and replays our entire lives over and over trying to come up with a solution (life flashing before your eyes), but you have never experienced this before. The last scan through your memories, you relive your entire life with your brain trying to change something so that you do not die. To you, this is happening infinitely; but to the outside world, seconds pass and your mind is gone forever.

Hopes this makes sense.

I read this theory on reddit (yay internet) that basically relates death to being put under anesthesia. If you've ever been put to sleep for a surgery of any kind, you know that it is not like sleeping. Instead, its more like time instantly passes. When I got my wisdom teeth pulled, I was awake and then suddenly I was laying down in a bed, confused of what room I was in and what had just happened. This person believes that when you die it will be the same. If somebody ever, in the existence of the universe, figures out how to bring people back to life and they bring you back, it will be just the same. You will have died and instantly be awake as if you had been put under anesthesia, even though in reality hundreds of years could have passed.

I thought this was an interesting spin on things that I never considered.

I read the anasthesia one. Lots of people claim that near death experiences are related to DMT being released into your brain in huge amounts. Well they have proven that to be completely not true. I think it could still be related somehow......anyway.

I do believe in an after life. I do believe in God. What either of those things are, I am not really sure. I do think whatever it is up there created me and you. I don't think I was made from clay and women made from ribs, but I understand the significance of the story. I think that when we die there will be a slight confusion for a moment as we understand what is taking place. When we die there will be a delay before we go anywhere. Not really purgatory but just limbo. The world will end in rapture at some point. this could be a thousand years from now, but after we are dead that could only be seconds for us. After this happens. I think we will be judged. Judged for our actions, judged for our hearts, and judged on whether or not we accepted God. I think it all plays a factor with believing being the most important. I think God understands how awesome (literally meaning aw inspiring) he is and that not any one human could ever FULLY without the slightest doubt believe in him. That is just the fundamental nature of being human. I think after we are determined worthy to be in his presence then we are placed. Are we with him for eternity, or are we removed from him, which is the most painful thing possible? I think the after life will be very similar to now minus the worldly desire we think we need. I think people will still laugh and play and sing but without the fear, misery, and pain associated with life now.

This is what I hope lol. I'll try to come back and add some more later.

I might be looking to far into what you said, or twisting what you said. I'm only saying this because I said the same thing to my fanatically religious girlfriend the other day. Its been said in the bible that He loves us all equally, and that he is all-forgiving. Well, almost all-forgiving. In context he is. He loves the preacher who shares his word equally as much as the pedophile who gets off on looking at little children, which I still find difficult to understand but at the same time not. In the bible (insert superscript "1" that we don't have), we are all His children, and almost all parents would agree that they love their children equally, whether or not they turned out as they excepted.

(insert superscript "1" that we still don't have) I say "in the bible" to avoid controversy about facts vs ficiton

yep he does love us all equally. no sin is greater in his eyes other than refusing him. To deny him is to deny his gift. And of course not every christian believes like this either.
