Update: This fucking sucks. I'm making a LOT of money but it's definitely not worth everything I sacrifice. I have decided that I will be visiting home in April and coming home in June. I'm going to get a landscaping job as well as a part-time night shift job. This means when I come back, you all will see me about the same as before I left. I am going to be taking some online courses to re-take the high school courses I need to go to school for Environmental Engineering. I'm done convincing myself that I want to do whatever seems best at that time, I'm going to start doing exactly what I want to do. I'm going save money so I can pay off all my bills and school loans, have enough money I can prepay my insurance and phone for the year, and save enough for tuition. I won't be able to start in September, I'll have to start in September 2014, which is fine. It's what I've dreamed of as a kid and it's what I'm going to do. Once I finish re-taking my high school courses, I'm going to do online courses at University of Waterloo, the school I'm going to go to, so that I can get a little ahead in my program. This will give me something to do in the now so I feel like I'm still moving forward, while making it easier when I start school. This program is a lot of material and is very stressful but it's what I love, what I'm good at, and what I want to do.

I will leave you with this quote that is the exact reason why I am starting this change. It is a quote from Chicago Fire.

"It's okay to disappoint people. It's okay to disappoint everybody. But never, ever disappoint yourself."

I personally thought you would end up feeling this way. The money is really nice and the work is hard but its not defeating or anything. However, you eventually just miss having a damn life. Well, good for you man. I am happy to hear you have some solid goals set and are on your way to making them happen. We miss you. Can't wait to see you again. Good luck man. Keep pushing.

It sounds like a good plan. One thing I've always believed is education does not translate to success. It certainly helps having a diploma, but that in itself does not separate yourself from the rest of the field. You have to have desire to be the best, resilience and the ability to adapt to a changing environment. Circumstance and change will constantly deter your planned path, but that's not an excuse to not have a plan. My goals always change because 1) shit happens 2) priorities change 3) you only live once. If there's one thing I can stress for your future plan, make sure you enjoy your career and have the passion to continually grow in your field. Don't plan your future based on how much money you'll make, it's the road to depression.

Thats exactly what I've discovered through this. No amount of money is worth not being happy
