I just finished watching this video and I found his message very inspiring.

Here's a quote I found very galvanizing:
"You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with." - Jim Rohn

EDIT: I removed my interpretation of this quote. I had a very poorly worded explanation. I am very sorry for everybody that was offended by what I wrote.

I struggled whether or not to respond to this, but I've never been one to shy away from a conversation. I'm not mad at you for posting this or offended, because I truly think the intention of your post was noble. But, try thinking about how this looks from the perspective of someone else. You're eluding to the fact that your real life friends are successful and everyone in AM is miserable and unhappy with life. I can't speak for anyone but myself, but that couldn't be further from the truth from my perspective. I was promoted again on Monday, am going to be in a commercial next Monday and have really been kicking ass in life recently (I'm MC'n an awards show on Thursday). I game because I love counter-strike, it provides a competitive thrill that I can only compare to playing golf competitively. It has nothing to do with "doing what I have to do to get by." I also enjoy the company of many people in AM, which is why I want to speak up.

I know you're struggling to find a place in life right now, and that's fine. We've all had our moments. However, I don't think there's a need to be so pointed in describing people's personal situations - especially since much of it is based on assumption.

A large portion of the older members of AM aren't really happy at all with their jobs.
Huh? Who's unhappy with their jobs?
Quote:
We're kind of just doing what we have to do to get by.
Well, yeah, I guess that's true. I don't define myself by my job or the amount of money I make, but rather on the enjoyment I get out of my hobbies and my relationships with people. Your post is basically just you defining your friends by what jobs they have, how much energy they put into their jobs, and how much money they make at them.

I'm glad that the quote motivated you, but be sure you're being conscious of what you're being motivated towards. Are you wanting to be motivated enough to get a good job that you can define yourself by that job? Or are you wanting to be motivated by other things instead?

I'm sorry :s I wasn't trying to imply anything about anybody negatively. I feel really bad for that. I definitely want trying to take away from your promotion ace. I was really excited when you told me about that. I just meant that like jero and serial complain about their jobs a lot and talk about it being shitty. I'm really sorry.

And I don't define myself by my job but my lack of a successful job helps define me as an unsuccessful person. I consider career a pointof success. If I had my dream job, I'd consider that successful even if I did it for free. Success is different for everybody though. Again I'm really sorry for this post. I was trying to show how it helped motivate my mind. I meant it as, if I spent more time with people that do the things I want to do, I think I would be more successful. Maybe find somebody studying science or something. I apologize again. Sorry everyone and anyone who was offered even in the slightest
