I found this interesting in light of the discussion in mumble the other day about poverty and why don't poor people make better financial choices. http://m.theatlantic.com/business/archi ... ns/281780/ |

"In August, Science published a landmark study concluding that poverty, itself, hurts our ability to make decisions about school, finances, and life, imposing a mental burden similar to losing 13 IQ points. " So in order to be smart all you need is money. :333 Seriously though, this is a good read. I understand poverty can be stressful. Also, even if they can't help it when they make bad decisions, it's our responsibility to help them make better ones. I have a new perspective on this issue, but I still hold some of my original beliefs. Hope everyone gets my POV. |

I agree with your part about its our responsibility to help them make better ones. I think everyone should be free to make their own decisions no matter how terrible they are as long as they aren't affecting other people's rights. I also think, that just as a good human being you would want to help each other. I wouldn't look down on someone who didn't want to help others because of their own reasoning, but I think its just common courtesy. |
