In an effort to get to be familiar with all of you guys, what is the origin of your name?

Things like Amaroq and r0b07 seem to have interesting origins.

Origin of GoatMips:

Random name generator. I used Goat and it generated Nips at random. I changed it to Mips because MIPS is an instruction set that I liked for ARM processors.

I read this book when I was little called Julie of the Wolves. In it, this girl is stranded in the wilderness and ends up befriending a wolf pack. She gives the wolves names, and the alpha wolf was named Amaroq. This is a stylization of the name Amarok who, in Inuit legend, is a lone wolf that tracks down hunters dumb enough to go out on their own. I thought this name was fitting for Counter Strike because I often play support or lurker and can catch people running out by themselves.

Before this, my name was Anubis. I chose it because my dad was a funeral director and also somebody who was interested in Egyptian mythology, so Anubis was always the character of Egyptian mythology that I liked the most.

Outside of gaming, I use a handle that comes from this song. (I don't want to post it in public, but if you know my username outside of gaming you'll hear it. :D)

I was very active in the early scene on Youtube from late 2005 to early 2006. In around June of 2006, ScrewAttack caught my eye as an interesting and funny website to go for laughs and content. One of the so immature and silly shows they featured was the (now psuedo-famous) Angry Video Game Nerd. Screwattack had a partnership with Retroware.tv, another gaming website. That website featured a parody of the AVGN named the Happy Video Game Nerd. I loved his videos so much. I found out that Derek (the HVGN) had a band called Starship Amazing. They released an album named Broken Robots and the name "The Broken Robot" I took after gamegrumpsfan seemed childish and shitty. Obviously everyone needs a 5UP3R 1337 N4M3 so I became -r0b07.

My Name Jesse - Je, Ross - Ro. The optional H was added when I played WoW and my main was named Jeroh.

Before that I went by sn0w, or snowy, which I got as a nickname because I was one of the few canadian players in clan that played the not-very-popular FPS game Delta Force 2.

gravyenema was made just because it sounded disgusting, and hopefully nobody will steal it.

serialp0rt was given to me by my longtime friend origin, that runs our website. He gave me this name back when we were kids in school, and I have a problem with change so I never changed.

Back in Kindergarten during an art project I was tasked with drawing a picture of my family. For some reason I drew my self and my family as a stick figure with 8 arms and 2 legs. As a dumb kid, I really liked the design of him and so throughout elementary school I kept drawing him (minus 6 arms so really he just became a stick man). I named him Stickly and when I had to pick my first username, I picked Stickly4444 (4 being my favourite number. I thought I was SO smart putting 4 4s in my name). Gradually changed to Stickly and then SticklySnipe.

I am starting to gradually change my online names to Joshy though. It's short, simple and stupid, but I love it.

I got my name back when I was in my first CEVO Team for CS 1.6. Everyone on the team had an "!" as an "i" in the middle of their name and I wanted to have one too. I asked what my name should be and they gave me the name Mut!ny. As time progressed, I changed it to Mutiny. I've been so used to the name that I can't change it.

Do you remember what name you used before mutiny?

My name Travie was chosen because I wanted a name that was represented my actual name (I thought jero's name was awesome) and I don't know any pro players named Travie;.

I chose Exodus because I thought it sounded wicked awesome. Go ahead and make fun of me, but I actually chose it as my rap name in grade 6. I applied it to CS:CZ when I got that.

I then switched to 2shaRP because I thought change is good and that is a better name for a pro player. I went back to Exodus.

Before Travie was Traviesaurus. But too many people have XXXXXXasaurus so I didn't like that.

Back when I first started playing counter-strike, I went by SecretAznMan83 but everyone called me either Asian or Secret. Seeing as how Asian was more fitting for me, I went with Azn The Asian since it is the truth. I am Azn that happens to be Asian.

Damn the nostalgia right there. Kinda surprised anyone even knows what MIPS is anymore because how dated it is. Though kinda confused why you mention an ARM processor for MIPS? IIRC you couldn't do that so you would have to use ARM instead. A lot of people got kinda pissy when Sony started to drop the old and went with ARM because people didn't want to bother with a new instruction set, plus porting anything would be annoying. http://i.imgur.com/C92gR2u.png Surprised I still have all of that on my old HDD along with a bunch of random memory dumps etc.

If you don't mind me asking what did you use MIPS for?

Anyways all of this ties into my name. I used to work on exploits/cheats for the PS2/PSP with a lot of them revolving around the SOCOM series. Looking back on it helping people cheat and in some sense killing the game was stupid but I learned a lot from it. It made me more interested in computing but after a few years ago I never continued expanding my knowledge of asm/higher level languages. When I started coding I was quite young, probably around 7th grade. So I wasn't the brightest and had a lot of stupid handles(dmon, nory, and really random memes since back then you could easily change names on games). Eventually I started to release stuff and needed a username to go by. There was a community known as TSH that had a lot of good coders so I wanted something that I could stick with. I randomly came up with "imok" and registered with it. Had no real meaning what so ever. Got to the point where I wanted to change it, though I was credited with stuff, and decided against it. People always asked what it meant and I never had an answer so people came up with a bunch(InsaneMooseOnKayaks.. shit that made no sense). I came up with my own which was IfMotherOnlyKnew. I thought sounded awesome at the ripe age of 15. I used it for nearly everything for the next few years. Eventually decided it was kind of immature and didn't really like it anymore. Dropped it and went back to imok.

I used to make CPUs in Minecraft. I currently reside as a Staff member at http://www.openredstone.org were I used to make CPUs. It was formally known as RDF and I did most of my work there until they went down in shambles and some administrators founded ORE.

I have made quite a number of CPUs and fiddled with making one with MIPS but never got to it. Since MIPS is so old and I was working with this in late 2013 / early 2014 I constantly tried mixing things that should not work.

This is a question that I also find quite interesting and I previously requested that it be added to the Meet the Members questionnaire. If you're interested you can go to the General Chat / Life Story / Meet the Members sub-forum and read about a lot of us (this is one of the questions).

Anyhow, my nick came from the book "Through the Looking Glass" by Lewis Carroll. There is a poem in the book called Jabberwocky which includes a beast called the Jabberwock. Poor Jabberwock gets his head chopped off, but I always loved the poem and the book so I use it for my handle.
