I got home from school today and a massdrop package was waiting for me on my steps, it was the mic I had ordered from around last month and it finally came so I decided to take some pictures opening it up and compared it to my other mic I use to see the difference in quality.

TLDR: I actually believe it has a cleaner more natural sound than the Blue Snowball. It is a bit quieter but not to the point where it becomes an issue. It also picks up almost no background noise like the Snowball does so if you are in a noisier environment it would shine. I would recommend this to anyone seeking a simple solution to change a pair of nice headphones into a headset.

opening it up we can see we got some extra clamps in the small box and the carrying case in the other

within the case we get another set of clamps and the mic itself

a closer look at the mic, you can see where it will attach on the magnetic clamp

here it is magnetically combined, each clmap has the edges so the mic can be in differnt positions as in "up" or "down"

Now on to the important part, how does it sound? As of right now I have three different microphones that I can use at my desk. My SteelSeries Siveria headset, my Blue Snowball, and now this Mod Mic. I uploaded audio samples from all three on sound cloud so that you can hear for yourself the difference.

Siberia V2s - https://soundcloud.com/charliemenke/siberia-v2-test

SnowBall - https://soundcloud.com/charliemenke/blu ... p-mic-test

Mod Mic - https://soundcloud.com/charliemenke/antlion-modmic

So what I can see here is that the Blue Snowball is alot louder than either of the other two mics, it picks up more background noise as well. The Siberias arn't all to bad but i do notice that it seems in games that the quality goes down a bit, and paired with the sub par headphones, it makes for an okok mix. The Mod Mic i felt sounded the most natural sounding along with having a good volume level. It was amazing at not picking up any background noise, no breathing sounds even as it was inches from my mouth. Also even with its small size it gets a very good recording sound.

In conclusion, if you are bothered by desktop microphones that are always in the way and are let down by the quality of current headset microphones, this is a great simple way to combine an already great sounding headphone with an amazing sounding microphone. Its not the cheapest route but I think you get what you pay for in this case. A good looking alternative to headsets that works right and simple. It is a product that was designed to fix one problem only and that's what it did.

Now I may actually get one... But I need the great audio quality and don't like the fact that you can't listen to yourself easily with these.

From what I understand there is no feedback of the microphone back into the headphones? Windows has it as a setting but it is quite delayed, around a second or two.

If it's a windows setting, why wouldn't you still be able to set it?

My mic has an input on the side of it that acts as feedback for the microphone and also sound from windows / anything else. The windows feedback is just delayed and slowed down...

I really like the Mod Mic because I am prone to breaking headphones. Instead of having to replace the mic and headphones, I can just replace whichever one is broken instead.
