I cannot connect to this domain "www.tccd.edu" from my laptop on school wifi. i can connect to it from other computers on school wifi. i can connect to it from other networks with the same computer. but using THIS computer specifically on SCHOOL wifi i cannot connect. i think it has to do with me briefly using a vpn on the network. as it was only afterword that i ran into trouble. i have since uninstalled the vpn program and made sure im not connected. im not on any proxy's or anything. when i try to ping it doesnt return anything. not even 100% loss. just... nothing. when i try to load i dont get an error code from the server my browser just trys connecting over and over until it tells me it took to long. i tryed talking to the campus IT support but they just told me to delete my cache and cookies, when that didnt work they told me to take my computer to geeksquad. im on ChromeOS using the chrome browser

Have you tried:

chrome://settings/resetProfileSettings

or clearing your cache in DNS under:

chrome://net-internals

Did you try it without www?

It does sound like your vpn caused the issue somewhere. When you are at school and lookup the domain, then you probably get an internal IP and route. Using the VPN caused you to get an external IP and route and that is kept in cache. Clearing DNS and ARP caches will solve this issue, if that is the problem.

https://www.tellypass.com/configure-chromebook-dns.html

Try changing the dns server, first try google's

8.8.8.8

then try this one

216.185.64.6

ARP is DNS cache, just in different ways, should be cleared already.

Also try clearing the sockets chrome://net-internals/#sockets

Also try going to, and pinging, the IP of that website.

64.28.255.100

http://64.28.255.100

Also how much does your IT department get paid?

I hope you meant 64.28.255.100.

Chances are the server runs on campus (due to your routing weirdness) and that it can be connected to via a different IP (Like 172.22.2.23 or anything matching 172.22.0.0/16). You would have to go and either ask for the local IP of the server from the IT department there, or just ping it from a school computer with the chance being that it will return the LAN address.

fixed. i reinstalled the vpn turned it on and connected to the website. exited the website and turned off the vpn. i was then able to connect normally. any idea why this happened? and why reinstalling and using the vpn would fix it?

Connecting through it via the IP given on the local network would have worked anyway, as the VPN is simulating you being in the network when you were physically in the network. So it should have worked none-the-less.

To be honest, I have no clue on what could have happened other that say "well, odd".

I tried connecting to it via the IP given on the local network (I got it from pinging from a local computer [also they blocked me from using cmd but not powershell? weird]) and it didn't work (this was before it was fixed). It was a fuckin weird ass problem
