i decided to completely upgrade my PC considering my current one can't keep up at all and any upgrade i could do currently would barely make the mark. i would like opinions on the parts i picked and possible better options to take.

also, thank you for those that were going to hand me some parts that they are currently not using. i hope you don't take my decision as a slap in the face.

You sure you don't want my i5-3570? I'm not offended; the offer still stands.

He may have been having trouble finding a motherboard for it. I know we were talking about it yesterday anyway.

If you do not want to go the route with that i5 from Travie, then I would suggest trying to get something with more than just 4 threads, or about 12 threads.

For the same price this system will give you three times the amount of threads and also an upgrade to a full GTX 1070. You can overclock the Ryzen 1600 fairly well on the stock cooler also, and many reviewers suggest that the 1600 has about the same IPC that most i5s also have.

I basically just re-did the build and adjusted a few things to compensate for the 1070, but ultimately that build is great, I just recommend a Ryzen 1600.

unless you are gonna stream or record video I would stick with the i5. from what I remember you just game and you would be better off with the i5.

Many games actually utilize the insane multi-core advantage that the Ryzen 1600 has over the i5 7500. In many situations, the 1600 actually outperforms this i5.

With neck-and-neck results from the gaming side of things taken into account, having all those extra threads is a huge benefit to games that will push the i5's lack of cores.

Yeah, I guess if you aren't going to go for an i7, then rizen will at least have benefits down the road.

It comes with one that cools it enough to overclock rather respectably. However, if you want a killer overclock then that EVO could be fine.

Actually yes. I would recommend sticking with the stock cooler unless you get some nice Noctua cooler or something at least mid-range in the cooler department. Anything lower you might as well keep the stock cooler.

That works, just drop the thermal paste. The CPU cooler has it pre-applied.

First is Microcenter an option?

Also you want 2 sticks of Ram for dual channel (Gaming is meh, but helps most everything else).
