From his testing he concluded that Discord and ts3 have better voice than skype and mumble. Ts3 is king of permission customization, and mumble is king of security. And skype is shit of all trades. Edit: by voice software i meant voice chat software but u get the point. |

Mumble is essentially free as well, which he mentions. Mumble also can be configured with the exact same audio settings as teamspeak so not sure why they just "maxed" it without modifying the noise suppression option. |

he doesnt test latency which is the main thing serial is concerned about. i actually looked at another video testing latency and it said discord and mumble were the same. i don't know how good his testing methodology was though |

lets be real LTT vids are a shot in the dark. sometimes they are made with power users in mind. and other times they are made for filthy casuals. i like them but damn can they be simple sometimes.

I remember the last time mumble and teamspeak went down and everyone using those clients was shit out of luck until the devs found the issue and fixed it Oh wait |

He really highlights all the reasons we chose Mumble. Free and open source, private, and has lots of admin customizability. It's too bad he didn't talk about speed, though, because the trade off between sound quality is it's slower to send a higher quality (read: larger) sound. Quote: Where is the bandwidth tests? And yeah, this is also important. Almost everybody in our clan has complained about Discord resource usage since we've started encouraging its use.Quote: it said discord and mumble were the same. how good his testing methodology was though
It can't be that good if that's the conclusion he came up with. The fact that you can't even choose the location of the server that you're connecting to is a reason to disregard any speed comparison between Discord and any other VOIP. Obviously Mumble will be faster if the Mumble server is in Chicago and the Discord server is in LA, for example.

This needs to be tested on a local internal network with nearly 0 ping. Unfortunately, Discord can't compete with that. Maybe we can figure out the location of nearest host / simulate latency with delay on local system / compare latency. |

personally i have the same ping (47ms) to the AM mumble and discord. perhaps that's why i don't notice the difference in voice latency. |

That's what we did with TS and Mumble. But yeah, impossible with Discord. We would just have to know that theoretically it will be slower because it's streaming higher quality sound.

How do you check your ping to discord?

I have a much lower ping to discord. You and I ought to try it out. |

I get 21ms on Discrord(US East server) and 34ms in mumble for voice so idk if the diff of ~10ms really does much :/ |

Well ping isn't the only thing that will affect speed. It would be interesting to test if discord is still slower even with the lower ping |
