Oh.

Edit: honestly this is just an extension of multiple issues that x86 brings. Intel has added many undocumented instructions available for it's own use. Many have speculated elevated privileges from these instructions. For all we know this microcode update is just the result of what some people found regarding these instructions.

? You download the detection tool, and it tells you if you need to download. If you do, you download from your system manufacturer. It doesn't say ALL of those CPU's, it only says that if you have one of the listed CPU's it MIGHT be affected. It looks like they're isn't an option for people who build their own PC's, which tells me they aren't an issue.

Just run the tool.

Prebuilt or not, if you have a listed processor, you may be effected. Best to keep track of chipset updates for your bios and firmware updates from the Intel tool.

So you mentioned a tool without any info on it? Unless you mean the tool in this thread that just tells you if you are vulnerable or not.
