Earlier today, Quickdraw asked me about Fraps and why does it slow down your frame rate so dramatically? From the several articles that I've read from different websites, they have stated that Fraps relies on a few factors: amount of RAM you have available, hard drive speed, and type & speed of your CPU. When I state "type of CPU," it means quad-core, dual-core, etc. The more cores you have, the better. Also, recording to a separate hard drive helps in keeping a steady frame rate.
