(re: the Direct3D graphics renderer removed)

For the (quite a few) folks that have problems using the OpenGL renderer, here is your only option... the Software graphics renderer in all of it's CRAPTASTIC glory -> http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =130094594 !

you got banned? I hate the steam forums. They are a complete cesspool of ignorant fucktards with admins that haven't the beginnings of sense. Its a shame that valve has let one of their main components like the steam forums become a place you literally don't even want to hear about much less visit.

Yep, the first so-called "update" by Valve to Counter-Strike: Condition Zero has now been 'pushed' as a mandatory public update... enjoy this new CRAPTASTIC POS!

(Edit) P.S. -> http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =131169276 (which in actuality, is ONE STEP CLOSER to a non-Steam version!)

TIL using better and open technology like opengl and opening up games to more platforms is a bad thing because people who hate change can't wait a bit for bugs to be ironed out. Thanks Obama!

If you have a computer that can't opengl then you're doing it wrong. No game should require directx.

Agree. Kids these days have no resilience or patience. Back in my day we walked to school through 18 inches of snow and it was up hill both ways. AND WE DIDN'T HAVE SALT.

Ummm... ALL of these games support OpenGL (which is what I myself use) just fine in their previous incarnation.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

And yes... I think that Valve is simply frickin' with me LOL!

you're missing the point. In migrating these ganes, valve broke them. I was getting 400 fps in 1.6, which is game breaking. You're building quite the straw man trying to say this is a problem with mere change. If they had actuallh tested shit before making the change nobody would car, but valve uses the community as their guinea pigs and in the meantime broke the game for a large percentage of a very loyal player base.

Agreed 100% with everything that you said, Anubis.

I mean...

New features added? Nope.
Old bugs fixed? Nope.
More safeguards against cheaters and hackers? Nope.
Server browser fixed (e.g. the "History" tab)? Nope.

Features removed? Yes!
Directories and files moved all over the place willy-nilly? Yes!
Total PITA/having to jump through hoops simply to force the "updated" games to look and "feel" like they have for eons (re: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... ?t=3079106 )? Yes!

Conclusion...

Update to the Windows versions of these games needed? Absolutely NOT!

Anyhow, Valve could have easily ported these games to Linux and OSX without even TOUCHING the Windows source... but then again, if their programmers are anything like their so-called technical "support", I can fully understand why they couldn't grasp the simple concept of 'two source code branches'.

I checked the fps and they did fix that, but they changed some of the game mechanics quite a bit. For example, they added a huuuuuge slowdown when you land from a jump, making jumping an extreme disadvantage.

Something that I just learned... with the removal of EAX/A3D, the new GoldSource updates ONLY PLAY (STEREO) SOUND from your FRONT TWO SPEAKERS on a multi-speaker setup -> http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... ?t=3088581

...TOTALLY freakin' inexcusable, $hit-Valve!

...and the beta "update" for Day of Defeat has been publically pushed -> http://steamcommunity.com/games/30/anno ... 6626288661 .

There are now also (as of yet, non-pushed) beta updates for HL:BS, HL:DMC, and HL:OP as well.
