Yea glad I never ran the ESEA client except when I was in a game. Uninstalled, Unsubscribed.

What is a bitcoin? And, if I'm understanding this, they stole this from ESEA client users that have them?

A bitcoin is a type of currency. A bitcoin is created by answering a really difficult mathematical process. Mining bitcoins is done by getting supercomputers to answer these really difficult math problems. Basically, by having the esea client installed, they took over your computer whenever you were idling and used your computer to mine these bitcoins.

Apparently it was so intensive that many people had hardware failures because of the heat created by the mining.

they stole your electricity and hardware and used it to mine these bitcoins equaling around 3000 dollars. they installed malware without your consent (other than you agreeing to their eula) and used it in a shady manner to make money off your machine. nothing about what they did is even remotely acceptable. so many people unsubscribed today. I hope this ruins ESEA.

I'm done with it. I enjoyed the competition and tougher matches, but that is beyond with what I'm comfortable supporting.

yeah, I am surprised at the people still standing behind them, but a huge group of people left today and hopefully more will.

Yeah, I was absolutely disgusted at how many people in that esea thread basically said, "Meh, I love esea, and I really don't care what they do."

Yeah, I don't know why someone would do that either. I'm going to give that new free league a try.

Where did you come up with $3000? I read the thread and saw $280

Wow, this video is amazing. I hope it influences people to uninstall and ESEA crashes and burns like they deserve.

The good thing though is that this is encouraging a lot of people to start looking at getting into the competitive cs scene as a service provider. No longer are people defining esea as the sole competitive company, but they are instead beginning to look at alternatives and at the possibility of creating an alternative in the absence of one.

it would be great if lots of smaller organizations opened up. Warowl mentioned trying to do one and said he would probably ask all of us to be MODS if he did. I wish we had the capital and means of starting one ourselves.

Matchmaking is not enough competition (very low skilled players, many with high pings) and some of us are looking for more. ESEA has been boycotted, CEVO has been boycotted... Leetway is free and it shows. It's not very good, might as well match make instead
