I found this cool site that shows pictures of video games from 1990-2008. It really shows the progress of graphics in the games.

Also, out of all those games, I've only played Commander Keen, Counter Strike, Splinter Cell, Far Cry, Guitar Hero, Gears of War, and Crysis. Lol.

wow im more surprised by all the games ive actually played
brings memories back even though im not that old i still remember the first couple of games

This post has brought back some very fond memories. It also made me realize that games were much better back then in terms of story. Nowadays it's more about graphics and beautiful cinematics. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but developers are starting to lack story writers that can actually come up with a good story.

yea i agree with dim
havent really seen stories that have really interested me other than gears
i know theyre some good ones out there too but i havent played them so i wont voice my opinion on those :D

Some of the best ones had no story though.

Commander Keen - run around and collect candy bars, and shoot the slugs and jumping rocks... Um...

And heck, my favourite game, Counter Strike, has the most simplistic story ever. Plant the bomb at this well-defined bomb site!

yea but the other good ones had great stories though better than some nowadays
