Hello friends of the internet. I go by the handle of shovelface.
A few nights ago I saw serial port streaming and thought Ill give them a shout.

I just recently got into gaming again, mainly cs go. Started a month ago
And currently double ak.

Looking for a good group of ppl to hang and play with.

So if it's not unusual to start as MGE, why are there 5 Silver and 5 Nova rankings? I mean I understand your rank is reflective of your team's performance and maybe a new player just lucked out and was mostly just paired with really good teams, but shouldn't this be unusual?
What does it mean if someone has been playing the game for 2-3 years and is ranked MGE and their initial rating after 1 month was also MGE? They were just as good after 3 years as they were after 1 month? Or is the system broken?

Sorry, not trying to derail the thread. Was just curious.

Not really. Some people are just better at video games. They have better game sense, can get more kills, can help their teams win more often, etc. I'm very surprised when people who have played video games get ranked below an ak when they start. Silver/nova seems to be the people where CS:GO is probably their first PC game. Silvers have probably never played anything else, and Novas have probably played CoD on console kind of casually.

IMO, the greatest indicator of your rank aside from actual ability is how frequently you play CS:GO. I feel like if I could play 5 MMs a day I could easily make it to LEM. But since I only do like 3 per week on a good week, and usually only a couple a month, I've basically stayed at MGE since I started competitive.

It's a bell curve. MG2, MGE, and DMG have the most people.

Yeah, that was a very unusual occurrence. I should not have let my emotions just boil over like I did. I apologize and am quite embarrassed by it. We pride ourselves on being as drama free as possible and you showed up for one of the rare moments.
