I posted this over in the 17Buddies and Steam forums, and figured I'd post (cut 'n' paste) it here as well:

Folks,

I recently uploaded a map that I had converted from Team Fortress Classic over to Counter-Strike. The map is one of the stock maps of TFC, "Casbah" (a.k.a. "Mideast"), and makes for some pretty fun bomb/defuse Counter-Strike games :)

After playing the finished map conversion for a while, I've realized/thought that it would be a lot more fun if a specific area (or two) of the map was joined to another.

Download the map here:

...and a screenshot of what I'm refering to is here:

Anyhow, what I'm wondering is, does anyone have the capability to connect the two areas marked as "1" in the above-linked overview map screenshot? Possibly with a tunnel or hallway connecting the two areas?

The two areas marked as "2" would also be nice if they were connected together in the same type of manner, but that one isn't really all that important (as there really isn't that much gameplay action in the area of the map to the right of the ">" arrow under the number "2"). Nevertheless, it would be nice if they were connected as well (using maybe a tunnel or hallway of sorts).

Note that I do not have the original ".map" file, but I *think* that I can decompile the ".bsp" using Nemesis' "BSP Viewer" utility :)

Oh yeah. That map looked pretty good, but I'm not sure if the layout would just be too big for a counter strike map. I think if you had the numbers connecting it would be a lot better, too. Right now you have to go so far to get from one end to the other of that huge horse-shoe shape.

Agreed. In it's current state it's fairly fun to play, but with the area connections I think the map would be a real blast.

Hopefully I can find someone well-versed in the Valve Hammer Editor to add the connections for me :) I've been able to decompile the map using BSPViewer; but as little as I know about the Hammer Editor, I dunno what sort of 'messes' that the decompiling can/would create.

P.S. What caught my eye initially with this map was simply it's great architecture, as well as the usage of textures... that, and it being one of Dave J.'s 'retail' creations :)

Folks,

Long time, no type :) I dunno if anyone is still playing CS or CS:CZ, or if anyone even thought that the Casbah map was as cool as I did <grin>, but nevertheless:

I FINALLY got off of my butt and added teleporters to my "de_Weeds_Casbah" ("Team Fortress Classic" conversion) map, making it a helluva LOT more fun to play in Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike: Condition Zero! :)

I couldn't decompile the map in order to actually add REAL corridors/architecture to connect the previously mentioned areas. BUT, I WAS able to add teleporters that accomplish the same thing :)

Oh yeah man I remember that map! Great to see you're still working on it.
