Ok, so I think I've settled on this Mouse:

And either this Mouse Pad (SteelSeries QCK+):

Or this one (SteelSeries QCK Heavy):

Both pads are the same width and length, but the Heavy weighs 3X more than the QCK+ and is twice as thick. Any thoughts on if one would be better than the other or should either be fine?

I'm still working on the Video Card and Keyboard.

Well, I just placed my order. Everything (except the microphone) should arrive in 2 days. Here's what I ordered:

Wow, that video card will be fine for many years to come. Also Grade A choices on the peripherals. The G400s is favored by many pro players.

Jero is correct. I use the G400.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty excited!

I was also just contacted today for a big job interview in 2 weeks so I will have to start prepping for that. Probably won't be able to play a whole lot of CS until that is over, but I want to at least get my video card installed when it arrives and play a few maps.

The next component I may upgrade is the monitor, to one of the 144hz ones you guys were talking about. I have a lower ASUS model now which is still pretty new actually, so I'm gonna see how the game play is first with it.

Cheers!

If you can't get 144 fpd with your cpu I would recommend doing the cpu first.

Ok, well I will definitely make a post once I get started and let you guys know what I'm experiencing in game, so that we can figure out if or when I need to do additional upgrades.

Ok, so my mouse, mouse pad, keyboard and video card all came in today! :D

I got the video card installed and downloaded the most current drivers off the Nvidia website... everything looks good there.

I purchased the CS Complete game pack through Steam and am currently installing CSGO, but it is taking forever, about a 2 hour download.

I disconnected my old mouse and keyboard and plugged in my new ones. They are both working fine, however, when I go to Mouse in Device Manager it says "HID-compliant mouse" and under keyboard it says "HID Keyboard Device".... also, when I go to MOUSE in Control Panel, it still says Microsoft Intellipoint and Wireless Mouse 5000 (my old mouse was a Microsoft Wireless Mouse). Now I know I can download the Logitech Gaming SW off of the Logitech website. Is this recommended and would this be the equivalent of installing current drivers for my new mouse? I'm not sure if its a problem that my MOUSE under control panel is still showing the Microsoft mouse even though the Logitech is plugged in and working. Same thing also when I go to KEYBOARD under Control Panel - it is showing Microsoft Intellitype Pro and Wireless Keyboard 3000 v 2.0. Do I need to fix this as well?

I was going back through the new beginner's CSGO Guide and have a couple questions as well regarding the Mouse and Keyboard:
- How do I set the polling rate and DPI for my mouse?
- How do I change the Windows setting for my mouse? I don't see the options listed when I go to Mouse in Control Panel. Perhaps this is because Windows is recognizing my old mouse?

Thanks a bunch guys! I'll post additional questions as they come up and hopefully I'll be playing with you guys real soon.

Mine has four different things listed, so I don't think that's a big deal.

To change the polling rate and DPI, you'll have to install the software from the logitech website.

It should be in the Mouse options, in the tab called Pointer Options.

Ok, so on that tab it says "Enhance Pointer Precision" and it is checked... so I am unchecking that box.

For the Select a Pointer Speed option (Slow to Fast), it doesn't give a numerical number but I counted out the 6th dash and there are 11 total dashes on the scale, so I'm guessing this is where I want to be, right?

Thanks again.

Haha, I don't mind getting my face shot off. Just don't knife me to death, please! Now that would be embarrassing!

Don't worry, I am notorious for pulling a knife out and then fumbling it around in my hand just long enough for the person to turn around and shoot me. That or I will somehow only slash air over and over missing the person entirely.

Like when you missed the knife on the afk person in spawn

Hey guys, I'm working on setting up some buy binds to use as I always used them when I played before and I really liked them.

My plan is to start with a small number of weapons while I get back into the game so that I can specialize and then probably branch out later. I'm looking for suggestions and I have been referencing Amaroq's Beginner's Guide.

So what do you recommend, not recommend?

I definitely will be using the AK47, M4A1 and AWP.

Which pistols should I use? P2000 or USP? I will obviously use the Glock sometimes, but should I buy the P250 when I can? I'm passing on the D'eagle for now since I've heard it is not very good in CSGO.

What about M4A1 vs M4A1 w Silencer? I used both a fair amount in the past (combined as 1 gun back then). Which do you guys prefer?

Also, should I start using/practicing Sub-Machine guns? Or do you guys typically save for a rifle and play another round with a pistol instead? P90 and Bizon seem to be the most popular, right?

What about grenades? Should I be buying all of them? Or are there some you rarely ever use?

Am I missing anything important?

Also:

Beginner's Guide says the M4A1-S and USP have to be enabled in my loadout to be used. How is this done specifically?

Thanks!

p2000 vs usp will just be personal preference on whether or not you prefer to have a few more bullets or if you prefer to be silent. I personally prefer the p2000.

A lot of people choose to buy the p250 or five-seven whenever they're having to eco against armored opponents.

The M4A1-S has much higher accuracy but slightly lower damage and fewer bullets. It's a great gun but it needs to be relaoded a ton, so it's not as good if you are going to be taking on people alone. I prefer the M4A4 personally.

For submachine guns, the Bizon is the best against unarmored opponents. I personally really like the UMP-45 a lot, and the mp7 has a lot to offer as well. I can't shoot the p90 very well and since it doesn't give you the same dollars/kill I don't really use it often. Also, the Nova shotgun a really good weapon to buy.

Grenades aren't as powerful as they were in original cs, but they're still good for finishing off players if you knew you lit them. I think the grenades in this game are way more useful than in previous games. The smokes are thicker so you can use them ore effectively against rushes; flashes last a bit longer and cause after image; and molotovs are insanely useful to flush out areas. I think in previous games I was able to rely less on grenades, but in GO they really add to the complexity of the game and mastering them is going to be essential for stepping up your game.

To enable the guns, just launch the game and choose loadout. Then click the guns and you can equip them.

I prefer the m4a4 and p2000. I defenitely like the the amount of ammo in the m4a4. I am more of a spray type player(compared to tap shooting) and I spray thru smokes and doors etc. The p2000 is more of a placebo for me. I find both pistols about even but I just do much better with the p2k.

For SMGs I only use the bizon after I win pistol. I am actually quite good with the p90. I find I can remain accurate in full spray and while running. And people often can't hit me while I'm running and barraging my full p90 magazines. If you learn how to use it, it is a useful weapon.
