Post subject:  Questions, Questions, Oohh Lala....

Ok kiddos, few questions for ya'll. Here we go....

1) I was watching some pro matches from EMS One Katowice last weekend and I was surprised by how close all the pros were sitting in front of their monitors. I would think this would be bad for your eyes. Am I at a competitive disadvantage for not sitting nearly that close? How close do you guys sit?

2) When you encounter an enemy do you move around and shoot, stand still and shoot, or squat and shoot? Assuming its dependent on the weapon you're using, please give specifics.

3) What weapons do you never expect to see in professional matches? I saw 2 different pros buy Dual Berrettas during the pistol round of different high level matches. I also saw a pro buy a Mac-10 on Mirage and go Palace with his team and then try to engage the enemy from a distance across the A bomb site. It didn't work very well. I was surprised seeing these purchases.

I'm not good enough to answer 1 and 3, but I'll give 2 a shot?

2) I watch a SHITTON of people play (granted, not pros). I have a LOT of hours racked up on CS:GO, and at least 70% of that is from watching other people play in MM. The most common strategy I see employed is a mixture of the stand and shoot/move and shoot. I think the idea behind that depends on what's going on.

If someone else is peeking around a wall, shoot at them, then move slightly so you're not exactly where they think you are. You don't want to be where the enemy expects you to be. Wait for them to peek, shoot again, move slightly. That way you know exactly where they're going to peek out from, but they don't know exactly where you'll be standing.

But if you're having an out in the open shoot out - it really depends on the accuracy of your opponent. If it's against me, you could literally just stand there and gun me down while I panic and shoot all around you. Against someone who is a better player, you probably don't want to give them any time to aim at you. What you're supposed to do (or so I'm told) is to strafe, tap in the opposite direction of your strafe (so if you're going right, tap the left to stop you) and then shoot. It's suppose to allow you to remain accurate while still keeping some sort of a momentum and unpredictability.

These are just theories/patterns I've either noticed myself or been told.
I'm really bad, so these are probably bad ideas to follow.

;D

I sit about 2.5 - 3 feet away. I like seeing the whole screen at once. :P

I think the best thing about GO is that most of the weapons are completely viable if you know how to use them and they fit with the strat. So really, I wouldn't be surprised to see any gun.

1.) I site a good 2-3 feet away from the monitor. It can't be good for your eyes as a pro but it's not awful for your eyes

2.) I definitely like to move around with the pistol more and shoot. I'll strafe and have a perfectly accurate shot but I will spam the entire time. The pistol are accurate while moving at a certain range. For m4s and aks, unless I am across the map, I will usually do a long burst with little or no strafing. In that time one of the 2 of us is dead and because I'm more of an aim player than a technical keyboard player, I will end up surviving most of the time

3.) NEVER use Negev, m249, SMGs(unless antieco or after winning pistol), deagle(unless you're a god with it), tec9

RARELY use a scout, famas and galil(unless antiecos, or team has enough to buy but you can buy a cheaper weapon)

SOMETIMES use duelies for pistol, 5-7 for ecos, p250 for ecos, cz for eco(good on round after losing pistol)

ALWAYS buy m4,ak, awp and auto sniper
The auto is underrated for competitive but it is VERY effective holding spots on ct side. It has an infamous reputation of ppl saying 'oh, look at the auto fag' or 'wow, look at the noob with the auto' It is a good weapon and maybe a bit over powered but why wouldn't you use that to your advantage. If it'll win a game for you but you get called a douche at the end, so what...you won. I would definitely like to see AM use more auto snipers for competitive play

1) I sit around 2 feet away maybe closer unless I'm just fuckin around.

2)never just stand still unless you are holding an angle. you want to focus on strafe shooting. Strafe one way tap the other direction and fire, rinse repeat. in close quarters however you can stand still and spray a little I try to do a max of 10 bullets.

3) you mainly see cost effective weapons being bought in pro matches. You will see A ton of aks and m4s some scouts, galil, FAMAS, , some use a deagle , pp-bizon if its the second round. Its mainly just take your economy into account and make a decision based on that.

I sit about 1-2 feet away. Just close enough that my mouse movements don't feel weird from my sitting position

I will generally straff fire. Sometimes I throw ducks in there to get people mixed up, but I think one of my greatest strengths is anticipating the enemies movements and using my straffing to counter their movements so they can't hit me. Also, landing the first shot throws their shots off so your movement can be more effective. A lot of people forget about hitting forward and back to stop your movement for an accurate burst fire. People get too involved in just straffing left and right. If am running down long and see an enemy I will hit my backwards key quickly so I stop.

I will use every single weapon probably. duelies are about the only thing I don't buy. I will use them if I have to though. I think every single weapon has its place and can be used effectively on a regular basis.
