It's pretty hard for a video game to affect my mood, but it started to happen a little bit last night.

Now I know all of you guys have your own MM horror stories and this is nothing new for those of you who have played for awhile. That said, I'm posting slightly to vent, but primarily for advice.

I played 3 consecutive MMs last night, all solo-queuing which is typical for me. The first match we had a guy on our team go AFK during the 3rd round after he said he was going to take a shit. He never came back...and after another 4 rounds or so we finally kicked him, only to be replaced by a worthless bot which we couldn't figure out how to control and he kept charging the enemy to give them free money. So we played the whole match 4v5 and lost...frustrating, but it happens.

The second match began by one of the players on my team "apologizing in advance" but he wouldn't say for what. He and a buddy then proceeded to waste everyone's time by acting like utter morons. We started out CT on Cache and they would charge up mid to get D'Eagle 1 clicks. They said they were smurfs trying to down-rank to Silver. Then they found it funny to eliminate the enemy but instead of defusing the bomb just type kill in console....or they would start to defuse, then let up, start to defuse, then let up, etc until the bomb exploded. Once on the T side it was no better....more typing kill in console or throwing the bomb in places where it couldn't be retrieved. To make matters even worse, they would do this several rounds and we would lose, then they would play seriously for a few rounds and we would win those, then rinse repeat....thus extending the match for as long as possible. Score ended up being 14-14 and they clearly stated they were playing to lose. We actually ended up winning the next round by accident...I think one of them typed kill in console and a normal player started with the bomb. So we were up 15-14 and of course they went charging in on the final round to get D'eagle 1 clicks again so that we lost and tied 15-15.

The third match my team was paired up against a 4 man clan. Once again, one of our players disconnected on round 3 or 4 and we were left with the bot. We played it out 4v5 and got crushed 16-0. Post game I saw we were also outranked badly. I think they had three MG2s and two MG1s, and we had two MG1s, two unranked, and a BOT. No idea how that match ever happened, unless our buddy who disconnected early was a LE or something.

Anyhow, I left this MM experience rather frustrated. I would like to play casual competitive CSGO when I have the time, but I'm at a bit of a loss on how to do this. I typically enjoy MM when playing with other clan-mates, but I'm not able to do this very often as typically I'm on when others are playing other games or not interested in MM. The Asylum is typically empty unless Amaroq and Serial want to play and get everyone else going (both the clan members who don't otherwise play CSGO as well as the Steam group community). I know ESEA pugs are an option but I'm hesitant to go this route....maybe its inevitable. The other pubs I've played on either allow too many players, have too many odd-ball maps, or have very annoying mods.

I have been practicing to improve my game, but if I don't have an outlet to actually play in a somewhat competitive environment, I am going to lose interest and move on to something else. Suggestions are appreciated.

Oh, and if I do MM again, how do you guys deal with dickheads like in match #2? Do you just disconnect early? (The Valve bans are a joke which is another big problem, allowing all the AFK/disconnects which ruins the gameplay like in matches #1 and #3), or should I just TK the assholes in spawn every round? Can I report these guys for playing like that or is that only for suspected cheating? If I can report them, is there a significant punishment or something worthless like a 30 minute time-out? What would you guys do?

Honestly, the same thing I already do. Suck it up and deal with the fact that this is what matchmaking at your rank is like, or find another outlet like faceit or esea or another pug system.

MY TWO CENTS: You've been playing csgo more and more (I've noticed) and you have become more and more turned off by it. Take a break. You don't lose what you have, that's not how the brain works. You are not teaching your hands to click faster, you're teaching your brain to respond to the situation its in. It needs a break and so do you. Mute the people that are annoying. Why would you TK? That attitude itself is against what we stand for, which is honestly surprising that you would suggest it considering your attitude in the Toksik thread. These are the things that happen in CSGO. Your options are to deal with it, ignore it, or do something else.

report them for cheating. Overwatch doesn't get specific cases to let the person know its a cheating overwatch or its a griefing overwatch. If you report for cheating the overwatch community gets the video and they will clearly see its griefing and they will get banned. DO NOT KILL THEM YOU WILL GET OVERWATCH BANNED FOR GRIEFING. I kick them, if I can't kick them then I just ignore it the best of my ability and just right off that experience. You need to make some friends and only play with them instead of solo. solo is the worst experience.

You can report them for playing like that. Choose griefing. I always vote to ban if I get an overwatch case like that. I believe the consequence is something like a 45 day ban.

Second, the valve bans aren't really a joke. They start at 30 minutes but quickly escalate to a full week, and you have to play a full week just get downgraded to the previous level. If you're playing multiple matches every day, you should not expect to use bans as an alternative to playing.

Thirdly, if you tk you will be banned (see number 2).

Fourth, you can improve in any server you play in. You don't have to be playing 5v5 work competitive rules in order to improve.

Fifth, I know at least in my region, there are tons of 5v5 competitive servers. There are probably some west coast ones, too.

But ultimately, you mentioned the reasons why I am forever a pubstar. I hate playing matchmaking. The only time it's fun is when we have a full team who can play, and I don't want to play a game if I'm not having fun. Luckily, I enjoy the game per se and I don't have to be playing in a competitive 5v5 scrim to have fun, so I'm not sure what am alternative is for you if you don't find casual play fun. Any league you join will have every single problem you posted about above, but generally more frequently, with the addition of even more toxic communities. I think you need to take some time to search out other ways of playing that are enjoyable to you.

Thanks to all 3 of you for your replies.

I don't understand how rank factors in. What rank does this stop happening? The 2 guys ruining the game in match 2 were ranked MGE and MG2.

I don't see how this relates to my attitude in the Toksik thread as that topic was about making fun of players of lower skill. That said, I'm by no means advocating TKing in general nor did I do that during the match (as frustrated as I was). I was simply asking a question because I look to you more experienced players for input on how you might handle these challenging situations. When 1 or 2 players are throwing the bomb out of bounds each round or TKing everyone else on the team down to 10 health to start each round, how are you going to respond? TKing them first is at least a reasonable question to pose when it is the only option that allows the round to be played out somewhat normally (you can pick up the bomb after they die and/or they don't shoot the shit out of everyone else on the team). Are you saying you would just play out 30 rounds where you die instantly each time an opponent sees you because of your low health? There is also no point in attempting to complete the objective because one of these guys will somehow ruin it. That is an hour of my time that is better spent doing something else rather than watching these idiotic monkeys run around thinking they are funny while ruining the game for everyone else.

Ok thanks, I will report them. How does one initiate a kick vote? If 2 people are the problem, can the 3 others kick the 2?

Well that is nice to hear.

How does it go: 30 minutes, 2 hours, 1 day, 1 week? So if a guy plays a match on Monday and abandons, he gets a 30 minute time-out. He plays again on Tuesday and abandons he gets a 2 hour time out. On Wednesday he plays and abandons again and gets a 1 day time out. So are you saying if he plays again 6 days later on the following Tuesday and abandons he will go straight to the 1 week ban because he hasn't yet sat a full week at the 1 day level?
Also, is there a ban/penalty if your team kicks you? If not, what is to prevent people from just going AFK instead of disconnecting?

I do find casual play fun (pubs) as long as there is still some effort to accomplish the objective being made. The objective is what differentiates CSGO from many other FPS. Lately, however, I've been desiring to play more 5v5 because of our CEVO competition and wanting to get better at competitively played maps and the 5v5 dynamic. It seems, however, that I may have to give up on this attempt and just find some west coast pubs to play in for fun from now on.

Yes, if he plays again 6 days later, he gets a week long ban.

Yes, there is a penalty for getting kicked too many times. I think it is like 3 kicks in a week, but nobody knows for sure.

you do the voting like all the other types of voting (like voting for map change) just hit escape and you should see something about voting, initiate a vote or whatever I can't remember what its called exactly.

I would highly recommend playing the CEVO pug client. AltPug just merged with CEVO and it is a great free service that lets you play competitive rule matches for free. I played when it was AltPug, but I have not tried it out since CEVO purchased it. I imagine it isn't much different.

Honestly, it disappoints me that there are not that many casual 5v5 community servers that are populated. One of the things that was great about 1.6 was the ability to pop into a pug, ready up, and play. Now you have to download a client and use their shitty interface.

Seems weird nobody would know the specifics. Anyone who has received such a ban should know how long it was for and how many times they were kicked.

Ok i'll try this thanks. Also, does anyone know how to command a bot to stay at spawn? I've seen people do it before (so it doesn't go charging into the enemy), but I'm not sure how its done.

Thanks Rugg. Some of us tried it awhile back and it was a bit of a disaster. Hopefully it has improved since then. I should give it another try.

Ok thanks guys!

Oh ya, and I forgot to ask... how do I report someone? I thought I could do it from the post game Scoreboard menu, but there is no option there to report. Do I have to do it during the live match or is there a way to do it after? Thanks

I'm sure if you google it you'll find tons of people who have been banned who talk about what they did, but there is no official valve statement.

Sometimes the bot doesn't listen. The best is to use "Hold this position" just once, right when the freezetime ends.

if you do a bot command before the round starts nothing will happen, if a bunch of you spam bot commands at the same time the bot will refuse to listen and go do its own thing.

Ok thanks. That sucks I can't do it after the fact. I guess someone else will report those douche bags though.

Thanks for these tips.

So to report someone, do I TAB and then Right Click during the match similar to how I'd mute someone? Is there a reporting option there? Thanks
