Burnout Paradise is another racing game in the Burnout franchise. Racing games is probably one of my favourite genres of video games, but I have never played another Burnout game before, so my review comes from that perspective.

What I like
Open world. I can drive around and pretty much do whatever the fuck I want.
Lots of cars to earn.
Good variety of challenge types: Race, "Marked Man" (you have to avoid cars trying to wreck you), "Road Rage" (you have to wreck a certain number of cars), Stunt runs, and "Burning Routes" (a race with a certain car to earn another car). There will also periodically be a car on the map you can take down to earn.
Huge map.
Genuinely looks fast.

What I don't like
Unintuitive controls - had to rebind the entire keyboard.
Difficult UI - it's impossible to get anywhere in the menus without searching for hours to find it.
Cut scenes/hints are impossible to skip.
Too many races and not enough stunt runs.

Final recommendation
This is a really fun and awesome racing game for fans of racing games, with very solid in-game features, but it does have some very serious and intrusive annoyances outside of the gameplay. Definitely worth buying for a huge fan, but if you already have a ton of racing games that keep you well occupied, don't worry about skipping this one.

I didn't like burnout paradise because the physics were EXTREMELY unrealistic. I didn't like how easy it was to control when you did a drift at high speeds. You just have to pull the e-brake and accelerate a little bit and you didn't lose any speed lol.

I liked all the stunts you and can do though. That part I found really enjoyable.

If you like Burnout Paradise check out Split/Second. Epic game.

Exodus - can you recommend a racing game with realistic physics? I haven't played one, and I have a feeling I like racing games because the physics aren't realistic, but I'd be interested in trying a more realistic one.

Yes! Need for Speed Shift. It is an amazing game. There are 4 tiers of cars.

That is the car list.

The physics in this game are almost identical to real life. I HIGHLY recommend you try this game, Anubis.

Just reminded me of this game, which was probably the most realistic of the arcade racing games. Even had an actual clutch. It was very difficult.

What about Test Drive? It had a clutch, but it was made even harder by the fact that the game itself limited your ability to accelerate and turn at the same time, so you were constantly having to switch fingers.

Yeah, think I remember that. I must have had it on the C64. I'll have to dig up a screen shot.

I wish I remember the computer I used to play it on... But it was an awesome machine. I played so many good games on it. Commander Keen is still one of my top games I've ever played.

Don't think that was until the PC. Speaking of Apogee games, I once sold a beanie baby on Ebay to Scott Miller.

A c64 is a PC...

But anyway, we bought the games within a year of them coming out, so it was whatever type of computer you could get around 1990. It had word perfect on it, QBasic, Windows 3.0 (thought the operating system was DOS)... It was pretty nice.

Well technically, but you know what I meant.

Actually I have no idea what you meant lol. I was young at the time and don't really know all the nuances between PC's and all that. I just assumed any computer that anybody owned was a PC, since anything else would have pretty much had to have been owned by a company or conglomerate or something.

I mean, yeah technically the term PC would encompass XEROX, Wang, Apple, Commodore and all that but mostly nowadays when someone says PC they generally mean the IBM PC and compatible.

Oh ok, I didn't know the term had become so specific. Thanks!

But you are technically correct, which is the best kind of correct.
