Hola is a free VPN service to bypass region locks(for netflix and shit). However your computer becomes an exit node, not only for the VPN service, but for paid botnet. Your network and bandwidth can be used for anything as long as the extension is active and chrome is running.

If you need an alternative there are paid VPNs. Some people like Zenmate which is currently in beta. https://zenmate.com/

Remember all of these type of VPN services are a huge security risk regardless of the company running them. Never use personal information through them and be mindful that you are an exit node for others (So people can look at illegal stuff with your IP)
