Negative. The current NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has ruined the NHL. Yearly rule changes, allowing the lockout to happen, allowing LED based board advertisements and now completely changing the divisions have destroyed the game and the league.

Geez... a little jaded, eh? Just to fyp, they don't take extra commercials because its the Super Bowl. Its still a normal 60 minute football game and the commercials are aired on the breaks same as always. Also, the commercials are typically quite entertaining and fun to watch. And the halftime show is by Bruno Mars...I'm not really into music so I can't say for sure but I think he is a newer artist. He certainly looks young, pretty sure he's under 30.

Actually I used to work for a Pro football team(The Hamilton Tiger-Cats) and for a Sports Marketing company(MRX.ca). Both have shown me how little the team execs think of their "customers" and how manipulative everyone in that industry is. It is not about the game, the players or the fans anymore.

I also hate being advertised to in anyway, as it usually is only needed to peddle badly made products or services. If you product was good and people actually need it, they would seek it out.

As for halftime, my biggest problem is that absolutely destroy the field and usually smoke out the fans while doing half-assed fake performances. What is the point of having these "artists" there if they aren't actually going to play or sing?

I haven't bought a song on iTunes made in the last 10 years because it's so fake. It's all auto tune and music made by a computer. I miss the days where people played and wrote their own songs before there was real autotune

You need to listen to some good modern music. It's not all crap. But it is if you're listening to a top forties station.
I never understood this mentality. Does a musician have to be good at EVERYTHING to be considered a good musician? Is Jimmy Page some how less of a musician because Robert Plant wrote the lyrics to the songs he played? Being good at singing doesn't mean you also have to be good at song writing. How is a song any less good because it was created by five or six people instead of two or three? It's a ridiculous mentality.

I agree with you. Just the other day we were talking about a famous pianist that didn't write his own music. He would just play and somebody would write it down as he went, because he couldn't do it himself. Does that make him a shitty musician? Hell no. Maybe Jero remembers his name? I think it was you who brought him up.

Those were only ones I looked up from the first 10 of the top 100, but you get the idea.

Another thing to note is that the 'awesome' songs that you are talking about, are all the best songs from that age. There was plenty of bad, redundant bands that played the same crap as everybody else, and now everybody forgets about them. 20 years from now, only the best songs from this age will be remembered and many people will have the same mindset of "music was so much better 20 years ago, what's happened to it?"
