Absurd Minds

So I just bought 6 eSports orange cases and 6 keys. I spent a total of $16 for them.

I opened:

M4A4 Faded Zebra x 3
MAG-7 Memento x 1
FAMAS Doomkitty x 1
P250 Splash x 1

Total value of all 6 guns on the marketplace is about $1.

I was hoping to get one of the following:
AK-47 Red Laminate
AWP BOOM
P90 Death By Kitty
or the Exceedingly Rare Item

Is this a typical result from opening cases (i.e. a scam?) or does it balance out over the long haul? Any ideas on what the actual odds are of pulling a certain weapon out of a case?

you wont get any of those unless your super lucky, I would recommend against it, MrTweeday opened 850 cases today and only got 1 knife

Cases are a lottery, scratch tickets. You will be lucky to get your money back. I suggest selling everything and buying skins if you really need them. You could have bought the Red laminate, awp boom and death by kitty for $15 total.

Damn, you're right. I made a mistake... I was only looking at the Factory New versions of those guns in the Market before I purchased the cases. The FN versions of the AWP Boom and AK Red Laminate are $20 and $24 respectively. So I thought taking a shot with $16 worth of cases was reasonable.... plus I might get the P90 worth around $8 or the exceedingly rare item worth ?????

Exceedingly rare items are worth usually 70-400 dollars
(they are the knifes skins BTW)

It's not a scam, it's a gamble. It's only as much a scam as slot machines are. There is extremely little chance that you will break even, and in the long haul you won't break even. I like to open cases because I want to earn my skins, for some reason it isn't the same to me to just buy the skin I want. I like the gamble.

yeah, the cases in this game work exactly like they do in TF2. I have spent probably close to 100 bucks on cases between the two games. I have found basically just a bunch of shit except for my pit viper awp I got from the dreamhack case. However, anubis (or amaroq) on the other hand only opened a few cases in TF2 before she found what is called an unusual. Think of a karambit knife but even rarer. The unusual (which was a special hat) was the only one of its kind. People were offering 600 dollars or more sometimes for it. So its literally like jero said that its playing the lottery. You might get really lucky, or you might play your whole life and never win a damn thing. I personally love opening the cases. I am like travis. It means more to me because I opened it. Even if its a shitty doom kitty or something I still like it more because I spent money to open it.

Definitely don't open the sticker capsules because you might as well just buy those because they are something that you can just put on your gun. The first 2 days they came out you should have opened them because 1. The keys were only $.99 and 2. Anyone of the stickers were worth more than the actual case.

My suggestion is only open cases if either want to or you know that you wont loose that much money or even make some if you get a crappy skin.
