Now my computer gotr a PURPLE screen for about 10 mins, and couldnt run shit except the task manager -- my cat cut comp power when it was starting to cause this-, and im just wondering whats going on. When the desktop came back i IMMEDIATELY got a restore point working, and I defragged this things ass BEFORE running a virus scan by two seperate anti-virus thingys !

I know a purple screen on Vista means death, but this purple screen didnt stay, and I just have no idea WTF is going on.

I hate to say this but you seriously need to just convince your dumbass cousin to start all over from scratch. Adding layer after layers of new stuff onto the old will only result in more and more problems. Here are the things I've told Serial to do with his new PC:

Step 1: Re-install Windows (doesn't really matter which Windows you use but I strongly recommend Windows 7 since it's the newest one which means better and latest support.)

Step 2: Re-install all the games and programs you will be using most commonly throughout your days.

Step 3: Get Acronis True Image and make a backup image of everything that you have so far and save that image to a separate drive (I highly recommend an external hard drive for this.)

Step 4: Make an Acronis boot disc (you will need this in order to re-install the previously created image)

Following all this will make sure that your system is virus and error free (not totally 100% invulnerable but it'll help manage your system MUCH better)

you can also you the free software called paragon for you disc image... but either way, nothing beats a fresh re-install after a while... . A computer is like a home, it gets dusty after a while, and a fresh re-install is a clean up... lolz
